The Parker Duofold Mark II Mechanical Pencil - Black and Gold expresses Parker's flagship design through polished black acrylic, gold-plated trim, and the distinctive Duofold banner medallion set into the crown. That emblem is the clearest visual marker separating this later pencil from the earlier Mark I version with its plain black crown insert.
The Mark II Redesign
Parker revised the modern Duofold line in the mid-1990s, refining the proportions and introducing a dedicated crown medallion. The Mark II design used more tapered ends and reorganized ring details, giving the writing instruments a cleaner and more unified appearance while preserving the commanding scale of the original revival.
The crown medallion is not merely decorative. It establishes the pencil within a specific generation of Duofold production and gives collectors an immediate way to distinguish it from the earlier Mark I.
Writing Experience

Collector Perspective
The mechanical pencil is an important but less frequently encountered part of the modern Duofold family. Parker continued to offer the Black GT pencil after many more decorative finishes had lost their matching pencil, and the model remained in the range until 2012.
