The Parker Duofold Mechanical Pencil - Grey Pearl presents Parker's flagship modern design in one of its most nuanced acrylic finishes. Swirls of silver, charcoal, and soft grey move through the body with the layered appearance of natural pearl, while gold-plated appointments provide a warm counterpoint to the cool material.
The Grey Pearl Finish
Parker introduced Grey Pearl to the modern Duofold collection in 1998. Unlike a uniform lacquer, the acrylic contains irregular marbling that varies from instrument to instrument. That variation is central to the finish: each piece reveals a different balance of pale, smoky, and darker veining, giving the mechanical pencil an individual character even within a regular-production collection.
The finish belongs to the Mark II generation of the modern Duofold, whose redesigned crown, rings, and tapered ends gave the collection a more refined profile than the original late-1980s revival. Grey Pearl remained in the line until 2004, making it a distinct expression of Parker's Newhaven-era Duofold production.
Writing Experience
The 0.7mm mechanism provides a durable, versatile graphite line suited to notes, calculations, and general writing. Its broad acrylic body feels more substantial than a conventional drafting pencil, while the tapered cone and balanced construction preserve control at the page.
