Pelikan Edelstein Pyrite is the 2026 Ink of the Year, a gold fountain pen ink enriched with layered gold and grey shimmer. Inspired by the metallic brilliance of the pyrite gemstone, it is one of the more dramatic recent Edelstein releases, combining a luminous base color with reflective particles that shift as the writing catches the light.
Color & Writing Character
Pyrite presents as a vibrant golden-grey tone with visible shimmer rather than a flat yellow-gold. The suspended particles create a changing surface effect on the page, giving broader or wetter writing especially strong visual impact. As with other shimmering fountain pen inks, gently redistributing the particles before filling helps achieve a more even effect, and cleaning the pen thoroughly with water after use is recommended.
Edelstein Ink of the Year
Pelikan's Edelstein collection is built around gemstone-inspired colors and a smooth-writing formula presented in a substantial glass bottle. Pyrite is the 2026 annual special edition, named for a mineral associated with metallic gold-grey color and reflective sparkle.
