The Platinum Plaisir is probably the lightest fountain pen I own. Writing with it must be akin to writing with a quill in days of yore. However, that doesn't diminish the comfort and pleasure of the experience. The nib--I bought a medium--is luxuriously smooth, and yet it feels somehow different from the equally smooth medium nib of a Pilot (also of Japanese manufacture). While the pen isn't much to look it, it definitely excels functionally. I can't really report on how well the cap keeps the nib from drying out over an extended period, because I have used the pen every day since I got it, but I can definitely say that it was ready to go each time I picked it up and took the cap off. All in all, a pen that is well worth the price!
