The Platinum Procyon Luster Fountain Pen - Cranes Over Moon pairs the collection's modern aluminum construction with a traditional Japanese subject rendered through contemporary maki-e techniques. Silver cranes rise across the matte black barrel beneath a warm crescent moon, creating a composition that shifts from graphic simplicity to fine decorative detail at close range.
Cranes are longstanding symbols of longevity, fidelity, and good fortune in Japanese art. Set against the moon, they create a scene of movement and quiet atmosphere. The design draws from the visual language of Rinpa, a decorative tradition known for stylized natural forms, bold negative space, and metallic accents.
Rather than the labor-intensive hand-built lacquer layers of traditional high maki-e, modern maki-e uses contemporary transfer and finishing methods to make Japanese decorative imagery more accessible. The technique allows the cranes, moon, and scattered celestial elements to remain crisp against the durable metal barrel.
A pentagonal stainless steel Fine nib provides a resilient, controlled writing feel. Platinum's feed is designed to draw ink even when only the nib is immersed, while the Slip & Seal inner cap helps keep the pen ready to write after extended periods.
The aluminum body offers reassuring balance without excessive weight. The pen uses proprietary Platinum cartridges or a compatible converter, allowing access to bottled ink while preserving the convenience of cartridge filling.

Free Shipping: We offer free shipping for all U.S. orders over $20, including Alaska and Hawaii.
Standard Shipping Fee: For U.S. orders below $20, a flat shipping fee of $5.99 will be applied.
International Orders:
Shipping Rates: International shipping rates are calculated based on the weight of the package and the destination country.
Exclusions: Currently, we do not offer shipping to Russia and South Africa.
