The Sailor 1911 Large Fountain Pen - 4am captures the cool, uncertain light just before dawn through translucent blue resin and subdued gunmetal-tone appointments. The barrel shifts from deep midnight blue to a clearer predawn glow depending on the light, giving the pen an atmospheric quality that suits its name.
Released as a North American exclusive, 4am uses the rounded 1911 Large profile as a canvas for a color inspired by the final hours of night. The transparent blue resin reveals subtle internal depth, while grey metal details suggest the remaining moonlight before sunrise.
The 1911 series takes its name from the year Sailor was founded. The Large model offers a fuller barrel and a substantial 21k nib while preserving the rounded cap and barrel ends associated with traditional Japanese fountain pen design. Its proportions are intended to balance comfortably in the hand without feeling oversized.
This example is fitted with Sailor's 21k Medium Fine nib, a particularly versatile width that sits between the precision of a Fine and the fuller flow of a Medium. The nib provides Sailor's characteristic controlled feedback and uses proprietary cartridges or the included converter for bottled ink.
The 4am finish has developed a following because its color is difficult to capture in a single photograph. It may appear nearly black in low light, smoky blue indoors, or distinctly translucent in brighter conditions. That changing quality gives the edition more visual depth than a conventional solid-color Sailor.

Free Shipping: We offer free shipping for all U.S. orders over $20, including Alaska and Hawaii.
Standard Shipping Fee: For U.S. orders below $20, a flat shipping fee of $5.99 will be applied.
International Orders:
Shipping Rates: International shipping rates are calculated based on the weight of the package and the destination country.
Exclusions: Currently, we do not offer shipping to Russia and South Africa.
