The Stipula Da Vinci Capless Fountain Pen - Primary Manipulation 6.5 is a limited edition of only 18 pieces, combining Stipula's distinctive retractable fountain pen architecture with hand-poured Brooks resin and a 14k gold Stiflex nib. Rose, red, cream, teal, gold, blue, and charcoal move through the resin in a painterly mix that changes continuously around the barrel.
Craftsmanship & Design
The Da Vinci Capless uses a twist-operated mechanism that retracts the nib into the body, eliminating the need for a conventional removable cap. That engineering gives the pen a clean, uninterrupted profile and makes the resin the dominant visual element. Silver-Tone trim provides a restrained frame around the material, while the matte finish emphasizes color depth and the natural variation of the resin.
Writing Experience
The 14k gold Stiflex nib brings a more responsive character than a conventional rigid nib and is paired with a cartridge/converter filling system for straightforward ink changes. The mechanism allows the nib to be deployed quickly while keeping the writing point protected when retracted.
The Art of Brooks Resin
Jonathan Brooks resin is valued for layered color, movement, and the fact that every cut through the material reveals a different composition. In a run of only 18 pieces, that natural variation becomes part of the collector appeal: the edition is numerically small, yet each individual pen also carries its own visual identity.
