The Stipula Ventidue-22 Toccoferro Iron Clear Fountain Pen reworks the compact Ventidue platform in a substantial metal construction built around iron-rich material and a clear ink-view window. The result is a distinctive Italian piston filler with a more industrial character than the resin versions of the model.
The name Toccoferro comes from the Italian expression toccare ferro—literally, “touch iron”—a traditional gesture associated with good luck, similar in spirit to “knock on wood.” Stipula gives that idea physical form through a body made from metal with a heavy iron component. The exposed metallic surfaces and transparent ink window create a functional, mechanical appearance while also making it easy to monitor the piston reservoir.
The Ventidue-22 remains compact and purposeful, with proportions designed for daily use and a construction that feels notably more substantial in hand than a typical lightweight resin fountain pen.
This example is fitted with a #6 stainless steel 1.1mm Stub nib. The stub point creates broader downstrokes and narrower cross-strokes, adding natural line variation to handwriting without requiring flexible-nib pressure. The integrated piston mechanism draws ink directly from a bottle and provides a clear view of the remaining ink through the transparent window.
The Toccoferro Iron Clear was produced as a numbered limited edition of 351 pieces, giving this unusual metal Ventidue a defined place within Stipula’s more experimental modern production.
