Excellent Preowned Condition - light aging to ebonite grip and end cap - no boxes/papers
The Visconti Le Grottesche Vatican Museum Rose Gold Fountain Pen is a preowned pen that is inspired by the Renaissance art of the Vatican Palaces. It was made by Visconti in collaboration with the Vatican Museums in 2000, as part of a limited edition of 1999 sets, each containing three fountain pens in sterling silver, yellow gold, and rose gold.
The pen has a black ebonite body with a rose gold overlay, engraved with intricate motifs of plants, animals, and mythological figures. These motifs are called "Le Grottesche", which means grotesque or fanciful, and they were used to decorate the walls and ceilings of the Vatican Palaces by Raphael and his school. The pen has a rose gold clip and a cap with the Visconti logo and the Vatican Museums logo on the top.
The pen has a medium nib made of 18k solid gold, with a special inscription. It has a power filler system, which allows it to use any bottled fountain pen ink. The pen comes without the original box or papers, but it is in good condition and has some signs of use.
