One of Van Gogh's masterpieces inspired by Japanese art, "Flowering Plum Orchard", is the second painting that Visconti chose for their new collection. The artist painted this scene in 1887, based on a Japanese print by Hiroshige, called Plum Garden in Kameido. Visconti's latest products capture the beauty and elegance of this iconic work of art.
The collection features yellow gold plated metal parts that contrast with the red, green, and brown acrylic resin. The fountain pen comes with a new red ink named after the painting and has fine and medium nib options. A converter is also included with each fountain pen. Additionally, a bookmark with a detail of the painting is provided.
The original print depicted an ancient plum tree that had the poetic name of "the sleeping dragon plum tree". Van Gogh faithfully copied the composition but used more vivid colors. He replaced the black and grey of Hiroshige's tree trunk with red and blue hues. He also added two orange borders with Japanese characters for a decorative and exotic effect.
