The Waterman Carene Black & Gold Fountain Pen is defined by one of the most recognizable silhouettes in modern Waterman design. Inspired by the flowing hull of a yacht, the Carene combines a tapered black body with warm gold trim and a distinctive inlaid 18k gold nib that appears to emerge directly from the section.
The design avoids the abrupt transitions common to many fountain pens. The cap, barrel, and section flow into one another with a nautical sense of movement, while the inlaid nib keeps the front of the pen exceptionally clean. The black-and-gold finish is the most traditional interpretation of the Carene and emphasizes the sculptural form rather than competing with it.
The 18k Medium nib delivers a broad, smooth everyday line and sits firmly within the section rather than projecting as a conventional open nib. Waterman's cartridge-converter system offers easy maintenance and access to bottled ink. The snap cap also makes the Carene especially practical for frequent note taking.
The Carene has remained a distinctive part of Waterman's modern catalog because it does not simply imitate the classic cigar-shaped luxury pen. Free Shipping: We offer free shipping for all U.S. orders over $20, including Alaska and Hawaii.
Standard Shipping Fee: For U.S. orders below $20, a flat shipping fee of $5.99 will be applied.
International Orders:
Shipping Rates: International shipping rates are calculated based on the weight of the package and the destination country.
Exclusions: Currently, we do not offer shipping to Russia and South Africa.
